So I had a dream recently of my wedding...well...getting ready before my wedding. I still have no idea who I was about to marry as I woke up before that scene could happen! The dream felt like a manifestation, and it got me more excited about my future love life. As many of you have realized by now, I tend to get songs stuck in my head that relate directly to what I am experiencing or feeling. Another Carpenters' favorite, their version of "Can't Smile Without You," has become that lucky song!
A few fun facts: this song was also released by Barry Manilow in 1978, about a year after the Carpenters released their version in 1977. His version was released as a single, with some lyric variations that actually gave it a completely different vibe. The single reached number 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart!
This song seems to be the perfect pairing with my manifestation dream. After all, there is mention of,"who'd believe you were part of a dream that only seemed light years away."
I know that I will be pleasantly surprised when what I have envisioned about my love life finally comes together!
My interpretation of the song's meaning is that it is about that deep and special bond you experience when you have found your person. You can't even begin to imagine how life would be without them. It would be difficult to smile and you would be,"finding it hard even to talk."
Although the song could be interpreted as a clingy and dependent relationship, I still believe it is all about expressing love to that special someone in your life, convincing them how connected you are together and how difficult it would be to part ways. The lyrics,"you must know what I'm going through,"suggests that there is a level of understanding between the couple and that they share many of the same feelings.
I love the lyrics, "You came along just like a song, you brightened my day." It feels very, "me," since I love singing, music, and symbolism! Then, of course, "brightened," makes me think of shining my joy! I imagine experiencing all the amazing feels once I meet the guy that's meant for me and we get to share joy, and hopefully music, together.
I also feel connected to the lyrics,"into the new, leaving the old behind me." With anything new in life, whether it's a new chapter, experience, or new relationship, there's always this warm fuzzy feeling about stepping into the "new"and leaving the "old" behind, which to me includes anything that's no longer needed: old wounds, traumas, negative experiences, self-doubt and self-criticism. A relationship is all about taking those small, healing steps forward, together.
I was inspired to not only record the song, but to also create a music video to represent that manifestation, just like a vision board, of my forever relationship. It helps me feel encouraged and you all get to witness these good vibes I'm putting out there. Let's see what happens (fingers crossed)! I hope this brings you encouragement that you can create these manifestations too.
